UFCW Local 700 continues to run in the red. In just the last four years, they have spent over $1,000,000 more money than they have received. AMAZING
The deficits are so bad, that in 2012 UFCW Local 700 has had to sell their office building (which really belonged to the members) but they continue to pay themselves high salaries.
As you can see, even though they take in millions in union dues from members, UFCW 700 spends more than they receive. Although they cannot live within their budget, the officers and staff continue to give themselves huge raises every year.
Just the President and Secretary-Treasurer's raises from 2009 to 2010 equaled over $13,000!
In 2011, the Secretary-Treasurer Michael Merrell got a $40,000 raise!!!
(That raise is more than a lot of UFCW 700 members make in a year)
On page 8 of the 2011 LM report you will see they also purchased 8 new automobiles in 2011.
(have to make sure they are driving new ones)
Is it any wonder they can't live within their budget.
